Reiki
Heal + Relax
Reiki is a gentle technique that produces a profound relaxation that can reverse the effects of stress, reduce anxiety and the perception of pain, it promote an overall feeling of wellbeing.

It can be described as an energy massage that works on stimulating your vagus nerve.
It is now offered in many hospitals and hospices to help reduce pre- and post-surgery anxiety, and is even recommended to oncological patients as part of an integrative approach.

Though it is sometimes hard to understand how it works, the literature is conclusive: Reiki is an effective complementary therapy and does wonders as part of a holistic approach to health.

In-person treatments can be performed by any Reiki Practitioner while a distance Reiki sessions can only be performed by level 2 and Master level practitioners.

Here is what one of my clients has to say:
"I have received Reiki treatments from Catherine both in person and at a distance. I can say without a doubt there is no difference in the effectiveness, the level of relaxation and the connection to Catherine in either form. I am a certified Reiki master [...] and find Catherine’s session the most powerful yet. The deep relaxation I attain during the treatments allows physical and mental healing, an easing of stress and a rebooting of my immunity.
I also feel a deeper connection to myself and my intuition" - C. Heskin, Los Angeles

A meta-analysis of all peer reviewed published studies concluded Reiki Is Better Than Placebo and has Broad Potential as a Complementary Health Therapy.

From UCLAhealth.org: New York Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Campus conducted one of the first studies ever performed to determine the effectiveness of Reiki treatments on the autonomic nervous system. This “blind, random study” included a Reiki treatment group, a “sham” treatment group and a “control” group. The testing began with all participants at “baseline” autonomic nervous systems levels. The results within the Reiki treatment group showed a lowering of these levels including heart rate, respiration and blood pressure. These positive results led the team to recommend further, larger studies to look at the biological effects of Reiki treatment.

Columbia University Medical centre writes: "Reiki is an ancient, gentle hands-on healing technique originating in Japan. Reiki promotes relaxation, eases pain, and reduces anxiety and stress. It also assists the body in cleansing toxins and balances the flow of subtle energy. Most of our patients experience a warm, tingling sensation when receiving Reiki. Afterwards they report feeling calmer and less anxious. Many have diminished pain."
